RISE Elections and Life as an Exco member...

I have been really busy so I couldn't blog before this, and here is a big thank you to all friends who still regularly (or even occasionally) check this blog. Hopefully, my placeholders will be replaced with posts sooner rather than later.

So first about RISE elections. Well, RISE has really been an essential part of my life in RI, especially in my lower sec days, when my class was not that fantastic (even though admittedly there were some really nice people whose company I still enjoy).

Sure, RISE was not a CCA in which we could slack off or fool around during rehearsals, but still we had fun, during breaks, or even in the midst of rehearsing for concerts. In fact, the trying experience and high level of discipline was a key factor in bonding us together, for it was truly a case where no one could stand alone. The punishments only served to strengthen our resolve to play better; the long hours simply fed our passion for RISE. Of course, there were people who did not and do not appreciate these, and left for greener pastures. They are not losers, but for those of us who have endured thus far, there is really this mutual feeling of pride and achievement.

Having gone through 2 and a half years in rise, i wanted to do my part for rise (i.e be an exco member). But really, it came naturally. Even from last year, I had been tagging along whenever lumpy or zhao kai were doing their exco dutes. I mean, its fun, it really is! Whats more enjoyable and satisfying then running around photocopying scores or moving stands, and knowing that you are doing your tiny bit for the cca? Its not that strenous after all, is it? And better yet, you get to participate in tiny close-door meetings where you get to say extremely nasty things about your fellow cca-mates and snigger when you get someone in trouble. whops, just kidding, but yeah, you get the point =)

Anyway, I wont bore you with details of the election process but we basically made a speech during the rise camp in june, and the actual voting took place a month later, with the results being announced on the same day.

So now, life as an exco member wasnt exactly a breeze. There was so much to prepare, so much to discuss, and on many days we slept at well past 11pm or even midnight, but we have pulled through the initial stages! The BBQ was quite successful, in other words =).

It wont be an easy journey but with the rafflesian spirit burning in us, and our passion for rise, the future indeed looks bright!

P.S. Due to a lack of time, it wasnt really detailed, but ah well...
