Yesterday, I went for the Shakespeare 24 production, a collaboration between RI, HCI, and RJC. It was real cool and was definitely worth the time!
RI acted out an Javanese adaptation of the play Macbeth and i thought it was rather impressive. I mean, after dire warnings from my classmates (12 of which whom were involved in the play), i was quite surprised by its fluency and the temperament of the actors. The occasional minor problems did not really affect my enjoyment of the play and it was quite fun to see aaron, john (choo), weng hong, and many other friends/schoolmates in action. That's not forgetting those people who worked so hard behind the scenes.
Then came Twelfth Night by HCI. I must say that it was pure ownage. The play kept us laughing constantly in enjoyment, almost right from the start. Some of the characters were really very funny and hilarious, and so was the plot. Whats more is that the actors actually kissed on stage and did all sorts of slightly perverse stuff which was again really cool and entertaining (you would know if you were there). It struck me that they must be really bold to do such things on stage...
Finally was A Midsummer Night's Dream by RJ, which was also very good, especially at the end. The front was not as exciting as HCI's though, maybe cause the plot itself is not that exciting. However, the last 10 minutes or so (the play by some group) kept us laughing throughout. It was line after line of comedy, what with Titus acting as bottom and *forgot name* acting as flute.
Thats not forgetting our Head Boy's readings of poems from Bardoltry (?) which was really theatrical and slightly sick too... The British High Commissioner also cut a birthday cake for Shakespeare.
I wont be forgetting this evening of Shakespeare anytime soon.
