Beijing Olympics! =)

So the 2008 Beijing Olympics has officially begun, with much fanfare and a grand opening ceremony. Well frankly, the opening ceremony really exceeded my expectations completely, even though this little red dot where i live has already shown me and spoiled me with all its fantastic displays, especially those great performances during national day.

And the success of the opening ceremony (and hopefully the upcoming games) was really like a dream come true after 7 long years of wait. I mean I was only in primary 2 when Beijing won the rights to hold the games, and of course I have been waiting eagerly for it ever since then. I mean, how many olympics would you ever see in asia, and how many olympics would ever take place during your lifetime in the country and city in which you were born?

Now that the wait has ended, it is really time to enjoy the show, if only i had the time. One prime example of teachers taking advantage of such grand events to set up even more work would be our HCL project, where our teachers asked us to do a report and then an e-version of the report, all about the Beijing Olympics and its impact on China. Of course it was quite fun and educational, unlike ERP for example (*whops), but still I would have prefered not to see the sadistic side of such teachers. Anyway, our website can be found at http://www.hclbeijingolympics.wetpaint.com, so please feel free to view and comment (and help us improve our grades XD).

But anyway, back to the subject. Without enough time to actually watch, I shall just have to be content with reading the news and medal count, and I really hope that both China and Singapore do really well (who says you can only support one country)! =) Not really sure about the athletics from China, but I really think that Team Singapore with some luck can actual bring back some medals. I mean, Li Jiawei was really quite unlucky not to get anything last time, and the sailors seem to be in good form too, so yeah!

Got to rush to watch the NDP now (on tv sadly cause i didn't get tickets), so thats all for today!
